Dear Glenwood Residents,
 

I am Toleda Hart, your Glenwood Strong Party candidate for mayor. My husband William and I have proudly called Glenwood home for 24 years. Living, working, and raising our family here has given me a deep understanding of our community’s needs and aspirations.
 

Our granddaughter thrived in Brookwood School District 167, graduating as valedictorian and now excelling as a junior at Spelman College. Her journey reflects the promise of Glenwood’s families and inspires my unwavering dedication to making our village a safe, thriving, and united community for all.
 

With over 35 years of leadership experience, I bring a unique blend of private, public, and government service, fiscal accountability, and community advocacy to the table. My roles as Glenwood’s Village Treasurer, Trustee, and School Board President have given me the insight and expertise to address our community’s most pressing challenges with integrity, fairness, and practical solutions.
 

As the CEO of a child welfare agency for 18 years, I successfully improved financial accountability, strengthened community partnerships, and achieved measurable results. My leadership extended to serving as District 1 Facility Board Inquiry Oversight Administrator for the Illinois Department of Corrections, where I champion fairness through active listening, mediation, and decisive action.
 

I hold a Master’s in Community Psychology and have completed executive education in state and local government at Harvard’s Kennedy School. These qualifications, combined with my real-world experience, have prepared me to lead Glenwood with vision, knowledge, and expertise.
 

Residents have voiced a clear need for bold, transparent leadership. As your mayor, I will focus on:
 

• Enhancing Public Safety through community-driven initiatives and effective enforcement of safety codes.

• Revitalizing Glenwood Plaza into a vibrant economic hub to alleviate the tax burden on residents.

• Driving Economic Development with strategic partnerships and smart planning.

• Promoting Fiscal Responsibility by reducing spending and implementing transparent budget reviews.
